This paper presents research on four beams strengthened with CFRP bonded in sawed grooves in the concrete cover under monotonous loads. The firstcrack load, steelyielding load, ultimate load at failure and deformation are systematically studied. Test results indicate that the strengthening method could overcome the problems with peeling of the strengthening material when surface bonded FRP laminates, and exhibites higher ultimate load compard with nonstrengthened beams, which shows that the ultimate load could be increased by 81.89%, and the space between cracks is smaller, the number of cracks is more, the width of cracks is smaller, as well as the deformation capacity is larger, but it shows no effect on cracking load and yield load . The construction of the method is simple. So, this new strengthened method is an efficient method .
