Abstract: The adhesion properties depend on several physical and chemical factors, such as peel ply component, microstructure of adhesive surface, ambient humidity. This paper aimed at the effect of surface morphology characteristics of composite materials and surface freedom energy on adhesion performances of corresponding surfaces assemblies. In order to achieve this purpose, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and surface tension meter were performed, and the relationships between surface characteristics and results from GIC tests were established. We concluded that the surface cleanliness apparently increases the interlaminar fracture toughness. However, the influence of surface free energy on the adhesive quality has not been found.
