Abstract: Foam-filled circular tube has been widely used in safety design of automobile, spacecraft recovery and so on due to its advantage of high energy absorption. This paper proposed a novel PU foam-filled GFRP circular tube, which was manufactured by means of resin curing process. Based on the axial compression tests, the effects of foam density, tube thickness and tube height on the ultimate compressive strength, axial shortening and energy absorbing capacity were investigated.
