Abstract:

The viscosity,reactivity and gel time of novolac cyanate ester resin synthesized by a modified cyanogens halide-phenol method were characterized.The mechanical properties and thermal properties of cured resins and its fiber-reinforced composites were tested.The results showed that the gel time of uncured resin could greatly affected by ambience,which is much shorter in air than in an atmosphere.The cured resin has excellent thermal properties than high char yield.Improved mechanical properties,as compared to that of novolac resin were achieved for the cured resins and composites.
