Abstract: Glass fiber composite will easily occur internal damage when subjected to low-velocity impact, the impact is particular damaging in the case of composites where the fibers are elastic and brittle as well as the matrix. In this paper, 2J′s impact was conducted to different specimens for 1-7 times to study FBG′s survivability and reflect of FBG to the internal strain of laminate. Strains at thickness direction were analyzed and compared with the damage of the laminates. The result showed that the change of the wavelength can accurately reflect the internal strains of the composite specimens. Meanwhile, FBG was still in good condition after multiple impacts, so it can be used in long-term online monitoring of composite parts. This work built some basis for the monitoring of the composite parts using FBG.
