Abstract: This paper presents a kind of transmission tower that is composed of hollow tapered cuttage grafting poles applied in 66 kV voltage grade. Transmission tower′s main bearing beam is connected together through the way of cuttage grafting according to electric design specifications. Meanwhile, transmission tower′s structure is designed, and deflection formula of variable section of point load is proposed. The influence of fiber winding angle and thickness on poles stiffness is analyzed by the classical laminated theory. The finite software ANSYS is applied to analyze the whole pole′s bending performance about different transition lengths. Each cuttage grafting pole is manufactured by a small angle winding technique. The real model test of the tower installation wire, broken line, wind load and other working conditions is carried out. Finally, the results show that the form of the cuttage grafting composite tower has a good bending and a fatigue resistance, which meet the requirements of transmission tower.
