Abstract: Corrosion resistance of five different types of vinyl ester resin and unsaturated polyester resin was tested under the same experimental conditions in order to compare the corrosion resistance of low ester density in alkali with other different type resin. The alkali was sodium hydroxide (NaOH) solution, for which the mass fraction was 25% and temperature is 80 ℃. The test proved that low ester density had excellent alkali resistance at high temperature. The flexural strength retention rate is 75%, the flexural modulus retention rate is 105%, the mass retention rate is 98.6%, effective thickness change rate is less than 0.5%, and barcol hardness retention rate was 108% after soaking 600 days in 25% NaOH solution.
