Abstract: Because of the small proportion, specific strength and modulus, composite materials have been widely used in aerospace, automotive, chemical, textile, mechanical manufacturing, medical and other fields. The composite products in service, due to the long time of differentiation and corrosion or products in the presence of delamination defects and other reasons, will result in changes in the thickness of the material. For high attenuation composite, this paper puts forward a method to measure the velocity of sound by using the time difference between the ultrasonic wave and the first floor, and then the thickness of the material is obtained. The experimental results show that the thickness of several materials is measured by a bottom wave method, and the error is about ±0.15 mm. It is feasible to use this method to measure the thickness of the composite material with high attenuation. It has great guiding significance for the field thickness measurement of high attenuation composites.
