Abstract: A brief introduction on thin-thickness prepreg of carbon fiber and thin-ply laminated composites was made in the paper, which focuses on the preparation methods of the thin-thickness prepreg of carbon fiber and the mechanical properties of the thin-ply laminated composites. The difference of mechanical properties of the laminated composites with thin and standard thickness plies were summarized, including static mechanical properties, toughness as well as fatigue properties. Effects of the ply thickness on the mechanical properties of the laminated composite were highlighted. At last, the research trends and prospects of the thin-ply laminated composite were discussed.
