A STUDY ON ASSEMBLY PRE-TENSIONING FORCE OF WIND TURBINE BLADE

Abstract: The root joint of wind turbine blade is the only and critical component to connect blade and hub. Therefore, the bolt pre-tensioning force should be applied when installation to keep blade and hub closely. The value of pre-tensioning force applied influences not only the bolt functions, but also the normal operation of blade. However, simulating the bolt pre-tensioning force with high accuracy is very difficult and complicated in FEA of bolt connection. This paper illuminates the theoretical calculation process and uses FEA method to simulate the bolt pre-tensioning force in ANSYS WORKBENCH. The results provide basis and direction for applying the pre-tensioning force.
