Abstract: Pre-tightened tooth connection (PTTC) is a novel connection for composite tubes which has high connection efficiency. The PTTC single tooth plane joint in tension and compression was studied in this paper. The bearing capacity and shear stress distribution of the single tooth joint were compared in tension and compression. The digital speckle correlation method (DSCM) and contact analysis numerical methods are used to analyze the shear strain of specimens. The study shows that the bearing capacities are almost the same with the same factors in tension and compression, but the shear stress distribution of the shear area of the tooth is different. This conclusion can be used in the design and calculation of pre-tightened tooth connection (PTTC).
