Abstract:

With a simplied assumption of the process of the concrete fracture,a new compressive strength model of reinforced contrete column confined by composite matetial has been deduced referring to the the theory of the unit volume change of elastic material when the RC column takes a uniaxial load. The model is also compared to published experimental datas. The results indicates that the theoretical process of model recommended here is easy to be understood and the result can be applied to the design of an FRP-wrapped RC column. The work presented here also provides a method for analyzing the mechanical performance and extreme compressive strength of the FRP-wrapped RC column.
