Abstract: A new kind of phospho-silicon synergistic halogen-free flame-retardant epoxy resin 610B was designed, and the hot-melt prepreg T700/610B was prepared. DSC, gel time, dynamic viscosity, TGA, IR and SEM were used to study the reaction and rheological characteristics of the resin system, the storage period at room temperature and the mechanism of the flame retardant. Carbon fiber reinforced composites were prepared through vacuum bag only forming process, and mechanical properties and flame-retardant properties were evaluated. The results show that the resin can be cured under medium temperature condition, and its storage life at room temperature is more than 30 days. The prepreg shows good processability, and suitable for the low-cost vacuum bag only molding. The composite shows outstanding flame-retardant performance of low smoke and low toxicity, as well as excellent mechanical performance.
