THE APPLICATION OF SHEET MOLDING PROCESS IN THE PRODUCTION OF THE ANTENNA ENVELOP OF PHASED ARRAY RADAR

Abstract: By comparing three common molding processes for composite materials, it is found that the sheet molding compound process is suitable for the batch production of the antenna envelop of phased array radar. In this paper, the processes of manufacture and testing were briefly introduced. The results of mechanical testing as well as antenna performance verification showed that this envelop fulfilled the requirements of radar. Nowadays, this process has been applied in many radar systems.
