Abstract: Glass transition temperature (Tg), as an inherent property of materials, is theoretically independent of the testing method. However, in practice, significant discrepancies often arise between results obtained using different methods and instruments. This study focused on epoxy resins that can be fully cured, using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) to measure Tg respectively. By comparing the results from these two techniques, the research identifies the causes of discrepancies in Tg values, such as differences in testing methods, instrument types, heating rates, and other factors. The study also explores new approaches to improving the consistency, reliability, and comparability of thermal performance (Tg) characterization across different materials.
