Abstract: Perfect bonding is the key to guarantee the strengthening effect for the method of Near-surface mounted (NSM). The pull-out-test of the 13 concrete specimens reinforced by CFRP rods with NSM method was studied to test the bonding shear stress, failure modes and experiment phenomena. The effect of concrete strength and notch-groove size were analyzed. The results showed that the maximum shear stress appeared at the loading end under low loading. And the maximum shear stress would appear at the loading end of 100~200mm when the load reached the failure load. The bond strength increased with concrete strength if the failure occurred at the interface of the glue and the concrete. The slotting sizes had an important influence on the failure modes. The research provides the basis for the practical engineering.
